Everyone had something to lose during the Japanese Occupation in Singapore. Men would get shot for being rude to Japanese soldiers, while young women had to constantly worry about being sexually assaulted.
In this animated first chapter of “Son of Singapore”, we see how the pre-pubescent Ah Nam, in wanting to protect his family from the Japanese, unwittingly put all of their lives at risk.
